Mine is not running ISL or other vlan type.

VLAN adds extra tagging to the frame, so an MPLS tagged plus VLAN
encapsulated frame will be larger than a non VLAN encapsulated frame as far
as my knowledge goes, so yes it may be your problem.

also make sure the IOS youre running on the switch that can do this.
