Re: [nsp] Disabling of break to modem Hosts

This is a "feature" of using just about any normal RS232 device on
the other end of a console cable, power cycing or rebooting will
dump the Sparcs into the "ok?" prompt. This is because the Sun
OS inteprets any line distrubance on the the console serial port
(or keyboard port) that raises a "framing error" signal on the
UARTS as a command to jump to the monitor. Cisco's actually do
the same thing, albeit with a config register setting to disable
the function after bootup.

There are two common solutions. One is the pacth the Sun operating
system to ignore the framing error, info on how to do this is in the
Sun faq's (see www.sunhelp.com)

The other is to use an N-way remote console switch to a single
serial port or router aux-port, since the electronics in these
typically isolates the un-selected port, rather than having all
ports connected as in the milking-machine approach.

The third is just to put an adequate UPS on your console server
and avoid power-cycling or rebooting it. 8-)
