I had the same problem with the 6400 running earlier IOS releases (12.0.5 I
think). It has definatley been fixed with 12.1.1, at least in our
environment. I am now able to connect to 2900s and 3500s using 100/FD.

Subject: [nsp] 6400 fastethernet port

Dear all,

A 6400 fast ethernet port cannot be connected as 100M to a catalyst 10/100
port. Even worse is that if we set the catalyst port to 100M/full duplex,
the connection is lost. We are currently configuring the port as 10M/full
duplex in catalyst.

interface FastEthernet0/0/0
 bandwidth 100000
 ip address 202.67.143.61 255.255.255.0
 full-duplex
!

Do you have any idea to set the fast ethernet port to 100M in 6400?

Thanks in advance.

Rgds,
Kenneth Cho
