Is the traceback accompanied by a "Unknown Port Adapter in Slot x" message
(or something to that effect) when it boots?

Has anyone experienced something like this...

I have a 7505 with a RSP4 installed. With no other cards installed, I
inserted a new VIP2-50 with a single fast ethernet (PA-FE) adapter. When I
boot the router, I receive a traceback message, the router continues to load
and I can perform a "show diag" and view the VIP information- memory is
correct, etc. When I power down the router and remove the fast ethernet
adapter and leave the VIP installed (for testing), the router continuously
reboots.

I have another VIP2-50 that works just fine. I have also tried updating the
IOS.

Just looking for some insight.
