Yup. The problem is "solved" now - the interesting differences are:
- A 6509 running IOS will not become a VTP client of a 3508 which is
connected via a Gigabit trunk.
- A 6509 running IOS *will* become a VTP client of an old (CatOS) 2900
connected via a Fast Ethernet trunk.
One possible explanation is that the 3508 is limited to 254 VLANs, while
both the 6509 and the old 2900 is limited to 1023 VLANs. I'll do some
testing later today to check whether it is related to Gigabit versus
Fast Ethernet ports.
