Hello,

  We run dCEF, route between dot1Q vlans. IOS is 12.1.12, hw is 7500

  It's bridging what is supported since 12.1(3)T between dot1q vlans

Yes for CAR, no for CEF. To route between dot1q VLANs you need at least
IOS
12.1(3)T.

You can put limits on subinterfaces and they will only limit traffic
going
through that subinterface.
