Welcome to the bogon-announce list! This list is designed to be a one-way mechanism for announcing new IPv4 and ASN allocations. The purpose is to help networks to adjust their bogon filters in response to new allocations. The list is not intended to be a discussion list on filtering philosophies or methods; there are myriad other fora for such discourse. This list was created so that NOCs and other folks could have a single place to receive only announcements regarding new IPv4 and ASN allocations. Why form yet another list? I already receive enough e-mail. We share your pain. :) Such a list will help some folks to automagically process, filter, or file such announcements. 2. How do you know about new allocations from IANA to the RIRs? We have a cronjob that diffs the list on a daily basis. 3. How soon after the allocation is made will you announce it? In some cases our release will be coordinated with the RIR. In other cases it will be made as soon as we detect it. In all cases it will be made as quickly as possible. Please note that all of the monitoring and templates will be updated as soon as the allocation is detected. 4. What sort of message volume can I expect on the list? Messages will only be posted to the list when new allocations are made. 5. Does this mean you won't send these updates to several other lists? No. We will continue to send e-mail to a variety of lists when allocations are made. 6. Sheesh, where do you find the time for such things? Have you no social life? Using bogon-announce
To post a message to all the list members, send email to bogon-announce@puck.nether.net. You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.
Subscribing to bogon-announce
Subscribe to bogon-announce by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. This is a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator. Your email address:   Your name (optional):   You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription. You can always request a mail-back of your password when you edit your personal options. Once a month, your password will be emailed to you as a reminder.
