Maybe not a technical point, but I love native just for presenting a
common CLI for the entry level folks. Not to mention, I find it a bit
easier to see all the changes showing up in RANCID reports, not just
changes to VLAN interfaces.

I'll second that strongly. I've seen people botch hybrid->native
conversions, and leave point to point links configured as
vlan/switchport combos instead of moving to actual routed interfaces.
All it winds up doing is creating headaches for the poor 3rd shift
NOCsters troubleshooting circuit outages.

That aside, we do a fair amount of VLANs as well, and a classic gotcha
for new folks seems to be the VLAN database.

Other than the normal IOS issues (counters, etc) native seems to work
great for us. Nothing fancy, just pushing large amounts of packets,
but we've got everything from T1s through DS-3 (ATM and POS), OC-3 (ATM
and POS), OC-12/48 POS, and Fast/GigE. And yes, many of the interfaces
are on FlexWANs. I'd have to guestimate somewhere around 100 of these
floating around with more on the way, and we haven't had any major
wonkiness. Or rather, any wonkiness has been traceable to
hammer-fisted card installers or other human error.

Now if the darned counters would just play nice...
