I just had the standby sup2/msfc2 fail and take down the backplane. Only
way to stop the box from cycling through reboots was to yank out the sup2 in
slot2.

Infact,

2004 Jul 16 00:10:01 %SYS-5-SUP_REDMISMATCH:Standby supervisor 2
redundancy/power mgmt board detection mismatch
2004 Jul 16 00:10:05 %SYS-5-SUP_MODSBY:Module 2 is in standby mode
2004 Jul 16 00:10:05 %SYS-3-SUP_ACONNFAIL:gentcp_act unable to connect with
standby

...

2004 Jul 16 00:11:11 %SYS-0-MOD_NOSLCPRESPONSE:Module 1
SLCP not responding... resetting module
2004 Jul 16 00:11:11 %SYS-5-MOD_RESET:Module 1 reset from Software
2004 Jul 16 00:11:11 %SYS-5-MOD_NOSCPPINGRESPONSE:Module 1 not responding...
resetting module
2004 Jul 16 00:11:11 %SYS-5-MOD_RESET:Module 1 reset from Software

Meanwhile, the slot2 sup2 reported -

Local Test Mode encounters Minor hardware problem in Module # 1

And the box reset. We first put slot2 sup into slot1 but the box wouldn't
even boot up. Had to RMA the slot2 sup.

YMMV of course.
