I've been very happy with PureMessage from Sophos 
(www.sophos.com). While not free, it will happily run on 
Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris, HP-UX and AIX (on RISC).

It will do both anti-spam and anti-virus. Success rate 
for me has been 98% over a 6-month period.
