Our installation used instance 1 for odd and instance 2 for even vlans 
(rooted on a pair of 6500's).  That's based on our current STP 
priorities rooting the vlans that way in PVST.  In that situation the 
config is


	instance 1 vlan 1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15 etc etc etc etc
	instance 2 vlan 2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16 etc etc etc etc

which was damn ugly.  Would be handy to have something like you do in a 
crontab

	instance 1 vlan 1-499/2
	instance 2 vlan 2-500/2

or something.
