load-interval? You mean advertisement-interval, right?

advertisement-interval 0 can improve site-to-site convergence, and
should be enabled on all links (eBGP PE-CE as well as iBGP). In recent
releases, it defaults to zero.
bgp scanner helps to detect remote PE failures more quickly, but can be
expensive if you have many bgp paths. Try to use BGP next-hop tracking
instead.
Consider enabling PMTUD to improve BGP throughput..
