I would not say ISSU (where U stands for Upgrade) is possible on the CRS-1.
Updates are sometimes possible without traffic interruption, but
upgrades are not.

Where upgrades have anything to do with newer versions and updates are "patches"

Of the last 20 SMU's provided by cisco for 3.6.2 only 11 were without
traffic interruption.

Real fun doing reloads on CRS-1's most take about 45 minutes from start to end..
So imagine the maintenance window you have to plan for 8 SMU's that
require a reload.
I regularly get flak from management why our million dollar routers
require so many reboots while I told them these shiny routers could do
ISSU,
