The 3550 are EoS already with no new software released apart from -DC
version.

Try to check out the 3560E-12D - it can be loaded with up to 12
TwinGigs giving you a 24x SFPs or a mix of Twingig and X2s (10GE links).
The switch can use C3K-PWR-300WDC power supply - it has two bays for
it.

You can also go the 4900M way, using single or two PWR-C49M-1000DC.
