The thing is, I don't believe there will be a single, 
(specifically-)defined technology to solve the table growth 
issue.

S-VA may be one that is applicable in the edge.

Those who are so inclined may use MPLS in the core.

The brave ones might try LISP or ILNP.

And those who prefer low-tech. will simply filter longer 
prefixes (where longer prefixes may mean different things to 
different people).

Bottom line, unlikely there will be a single solution that 
addresses all topologies, needless to say, topologies within 
the same routing domain.
