I've seen bug where 1500 + VLAN tag were counted as giant + error, but on
different platform.

Last I checked, counter bugs are not release critical in Cisco, so it's
officially ok in the release process to publish new image with known
counter bugs. This information is from 2007, so maybe things are different
now.
