actually the theory is sound.  They're injecting at +70dBm per strand,
which gives about 18kW power-over-fibre output per pair.  Some of the staff
members have been complaining that their remaining eye sockets are at risk,
but tbh that particular data centre was never too hot on fibre hygiene
anyway.  No matter how often you tell people not to look directly into
fibre to see if it's been lit, there's always someone who knows better, sigh.

As an added advantage, the B end of these PoF links are great for burning
out jammed cage nuts.
