And that's why we are treating VXLAN as a purely edge service, either
instantiated by us, or by our customers.

The backbone will always remain IP/MPLS, because that has stood the test
of time, and as of 2015, still appears to be the most flexible way to
run the network for both IP and non-IP services.

I recall at an SDN/NFV/MPLS/IPv6 conference in Paris back in 2013,
Kireeti Kompella was intimating about how a lot of technologies have, in
the last 7x years or so, been developed to wipe out the need for MPLS as
they could be seen as being leaner and less kludgy than MPLS. 7x years
on, MPLS still seems relevant, so it's quite interesting to watch.

Pity I can't find that video online.
