3800 series can support PVDM chips directly on the motherboard, which means the 4 built-in WIC slots can also function as VWIC slots. On the 3700 series, you have to use a NM-HDV type of netmodule to get DSPs into the chassis. This is important because on the 3845, you only have to buy the router (w/ voice package) and the VWIC cards. On the 3745, you'd have to buy the netmodule cards, as well. This actually makes the 3845 come out a bit cheaper. According to this page, the 3700 series is EOL after Mar 7, 2007:

The 3845 sports a faster main CPU, which will have an impact on the quantity of MGPC/SCCP devices you can support.
Unless you are getting a 3745 used or you already have one, save yourself the effort and get a 3845.

Just wondering what the main difference between the 3700 and 3800 series routers are. We're looking for a SRST device that will also have some T1 trunks and perhaps some analog FXO ports as well. I know that the different models within each series have different maximum supported devices, it's likely I'll either get a 3845 or 3745 in order to get the SRST density I need.
