I've asked that question on the list before, and consesus seems to be that it is OK.

Subject: [cisco-voip] OS 2000.4.2 upgrade
Is there any trouble to be had by upgrading the OS of an IPT cluster on
different days?
Our cluster is currently at 2000.2.7sr4.
So, for example, I would upgrade the CCM publisher during the maintenance
window on Wednesday, subscribers on Thursday and IPCC servers on Friday...
(The problem is that there is not enough of a window allotted to do all the
upgrades on the same day.)
I know that CCM application upgrades have to be done all at once, but does
the OS version matter in the same way?
