[cisco-voip] 3825 Voice Gateway Issue

On the router, during a call is active, is the IP address under 'show call active voice brief' reachable from the MGCP interface on the router that MGCP is bound to and vice versa? Does that output show tx/rx traffic counts incrementing? With MGCP all the information may not be displayed for that command, but the IP address and tx/rx counts will be there.
Also check the phones web page during an active connected phone call, the stream page and see what IP's it is showing for the stream and verify reachibility of the path from phone to the remote device (the gateway in this case).
Also, from the config , mgcp bind commands are set for the gigabit ethernet but loopback has description on it as being MGCP interface. May not be a issue since you are troubleshooting this issue, etc and probably made changes while figuring this out but just in case you have routing/ACLs/etc set up for that and not the other interfaces, etc.
May want to do a 'debug mgcp pack' during call setup to see if setup/audio-cutover is correct and all packets are making it to gateway, etc. Are there any routing, firewalls, or QoS policies that may be effecting the call flow past this gateway? There are no drops on the QoS policies?
The 'service mgcpapp' commands are not needed on the pots dial-peers for PRI ports. In older cisco docs this was the practice but then there was a bug id on how that effected MGCP PRI backhauls and caused problems so now they say do not put that command on pots dial-peers for PRI ports. There are some conflicting docs out there on this still.
Is this the only site having this issue, other sites working fine if there are others? What version CCM and phone firmwares?
What did you upgrade the IOS to? I see the config posted is 12.3(14)T5 but the current in that stream is 12.3(14)T7.

Two quick questions -
1. Can you please verify that the PVDM-2s
in the 3825 work fine? (I remember seeing something similar on a router with a
PVDM issue.)
2. Can you post your router configuration
– it would definitely help.

Can you get a sniffer capture at the phone and recreate the audio in
the capture file?
Have you done PCM dumps at the router yet?

I have a very interesting issue at a client I am working with. We are
converting this customer from a Nortel to CallManager. This customer
is using IP phones already. There are four locations that are
converting to IP phones. All four locations will be using a single
3825 voice gateway to the PSTN. We connected the phones at one
location and configured the gateway as an MGCP gateway. We have two
Bellsouth ISDN PRIs connected to the gateway that came out of the
Nortel. The ISDN connections come up with no problem. We have
verified the Frame type with the Bellsouth and the PRI are working
fine. The phones are using PoE and are getting the IP address via
DHCP and are using a voice VLAN. The PCs are connected to the access
port on the phones. The Phones register to the Subscriber just fine.
Calls are being routed to the Gateway with no problem. Inbound calls
make it to the IP phones fine. So you are asking then what the
problem is. There is no audio on the call or ring back. The call sets
up fine. The ISDN debugs show no errors. The phone maintains the
connection until you hang up. And if you look at the RTP and UDP
debugs it is sending and receiving the RTP traffic without issues or
appears to be. You can start an ISDN Q931 debug and make a call. When
the call is connected look at the traffic info on the phone and
everything appears as it should accept there is no audio, static or
anything. We have made calls from different phones, phone types
(7961, 7912, and IP Communicator) with the same result. IP
connectivity is good. There are no IP routing issues. We upgraded the
IOS on the Gateway. We caused the phones to go into SRST mode to
remove the CallManager from the equation and it was the same result.
Cisco to Cisco calls work great. This one has TAC scratching there
head. If anyone has ever seen a problem like this or have any other
suggestions I would really appreciate your input.
