[cisco-voip] 4506 switchport config for 7936

The reason I am asking is because we are having some intermittent issues
with a few of our 7936's and I am trying to correlate some similarities
in setups.
Would not having the voice vlan on a port cause any auto qos problems?
The switchport should still be able to tell that the device is a
cisco-phone even though it is not using the voice vlan, correct?

I've heard this from a few places, for us, we haven't had any problems.

I have found that with the 7935 and 7936s that they do not
particularly like an access and voice vlan together on a port... just
configure the port for access on the voice vlan...

It all depends on your security model. Why configure a port
differently than all your other ports? I don't think there is any added
value and quite honestly, I think there's more harm than anything. Port
management is a big deal around here, so the easier the config the
better. By sticking with a standard, you can move your device to any
port and it works and you can move any device, laptop or phone, to that
port and it works.
My (much more than) two cents...

Since the 7936's don't have PC ports, is there a reason
to setup a voice vlan on the switchport or is just setting the
switchport up as access vlan with the access vlan being the voice vlan
enough?
Thanks,
