It appears that kill.exe helped. The previous attempts with taskmgr
just led to multiple frozen taskmgr processes running at 100% system
time, each of them unkillable even by kill.exe, and the machine re-
acting to input slow as molasses. But killing the PID of the database
instance service process and that of oninit (as well as beeing patient
for the next minutes) actually did the magic, the process even continued
without major verification problems.
