BARS will only restore to a server with the same hostname.
The hard disk trick will work, however when you change the hostname
you will break CallManager.
I would recommend building the new box in a separate workgroup but
with the same hostname. Don't use hard disk trick as they two
servers will have the same SID. This won't cause a problem however
if the two boxes cannot talk to each other (ie 10.29.x.x and
172.29.x.x are not routable to each other).

Hi all
we work on an upgrade from our callmanager cluster from 3.3(4) to 4.2
(3).
To test the upgrade we plan to set up a preproduction. The preproduction
has its own subnet and a different naming convetion. It is possible to
import the callmanager backup from the running publisher to the preprod
publisher? (they have different names cmp1 / cmt1 and different IPs
172.29.xx.xx / 10.29.xx.xx)
Or is it possible to take a disk out of the RAID1 of the publisher,
insert
it to the preprod publisher and change the Name and the IP in the
CallManger config?
Thank for a feedback
