[cisco-voip] Swapping a Phone (Todd Franklin)

Yeah, it's as simple ahs that.
I would suggest to plug the new phone first to make sure the firmware is
the same. Then unplug the new phone, delete the configuration on ccm
(that is if you have auto registration enabled) then you can swap the
Mac Address.
You will need to associate the user to the new phone if you have users
associated to phones.

OK, so we've had our first broken Cisco phone! So I call TAC (always a
joy,
not) to get it replaced.
So the new phone is here. We're still using the old one, cause it
works, it's just the holder portion broke.
How do I go into CCM and setup the new phone to do everything the old
phone does?
Is it as simple as "editing" the existing phone to change it to the new
MAC of the new phone???

Thanks anyone!!!

It absolutely is that simple. Just switch the CCM record to the new MAC.
(Make sure you haven't auto-registered the new phone and if you have
delete that new entry first or else there will already be a record with
the new MAC).

They are listing main versions only there because there are no SRs
out yet with the fix.

There are ES patches with the fix for 3.3(5), 4.1(3), 4.2(1), 4.2(3),
and 5.0(4).

If you aren't on one of those versions and are using CM date/time
groups that are affected by the DST changes then it may be time to
upgrade.

Interesting.
"
CallManager CCM.exe
   CSCsf07523
Options exist to pull information from OS or set within CM. Fixed in
CCM versions 4.3(1), 5.0(1), 5.1(1), 6.0(1), 3.3(5)ES56.
"

4.3(1), huh?

So I'm not sure I still understand. We can apply 2000.4.4sr4, which
takes care of the OS. Does CallManager _still_ need patches? I've got
time periods defined and it would be nice to not to have to adjust
everything within CM as well.

Communicator indicates I don't have a sound card installed under Vista,
however I had no issues on same laptop with XP, and my MP3 collection
sounds just as good in Vista as it did in XP -jason

Anyone running Communicator with Vista ?

Well, we're on 4.1.3sr2, so hopefully the 4.1.3sr5 (?) comes out soon
enough for us to put in the lab and test!
