[cisco-voip] fax suggestions

We have both........ I don't know if I will ever get all users to
actually use the fax server as they just always do what they have always
done.
But for the ones using it..... they love not having to leave there desk.
Yes I can fax from my local analog faxes to my fax server.
Yes I'm using T.38 to achieve this. Had to convert my MGCP gateway to
H323. but I heard that they also support T.38 in MGCP with CM 4.2.
All my fax machines are prefixed to dial 9 so to fax from my analog
faxes to the Fax server it is actually going out my PRI and back in.....
I do NOT have it setup to 4 digit fax.
Hope that helps.
Scott

Scott,
If you are a user of Xmedius. Do you ever fax from a regular analog
fax machine on your network directly to your Xmedius server? Are you
using the T.38 protocol to achieve this? Or have you done away with all
analog fax machines on your netowork?

If you go with an efax.....XMediusFax is a great solution.
If you continue to use Analog faxes always make sure you have
fax-passthrough and the fax have ECM off and Super G3 off.

Yeah I was hoping to push an efax solution to this client but they are
small and for some reason like the trips to the fax machine.

the ata-186 seem to work OK for anything but the super-g3 fax machines.
We have probably 30 ATA's out for faxing and I have only run into a
problem with one of them so far.
we VG248's at 2 sites, one site hasn't reported any problems. the other
is having all kinds of problems right now, its a nightmare. i wish they
would move to an efax type solution. I can't blame the 248's (yet),
could be wiring or networking problems.
i've also got some 224's out at a regional campus, they seem to be
working OK with fax machines out there, no super g3 machines though that
I know of.
Personally I would like to see people move to some sort of efax solution
like Steve said... seems like a lot of voodoo getting everything to
work.

Just wondering what everyone out there finds as the best method for
reliable faxing. Are you using FXS/FXO cards or something like the Cisco
ATA-186-I2 Analog VOIP Adapters?
Thanks
