[cisco-voip] IP Communicator

I have a user who has a 7960 at his desk and IP communicator set up.
Currently he is overseas using his communicator on a non VoIP network..  All
was working fine till someone unplugged his desk phone at my office.  Once
that happened, all calls went directly to voicemail and his communicator
stopped working.  
I have never seen that happen before and was wondering if anyone else had.
There should be no relevance to the 7960 being unplugged as long as his
credentials were on on the communicator.  
Anyone have any insight into this?
