[cisco-voip] routing tollfree calls - local or long distance trunks?

I just thought of something else....in our case, our long distance trunks are across the WAN, so there might be a chance where the toll free number is available in the local calling area but not in the area where the LD trunks are located.

Another reason to route over local trunks first.

  This is an interesting question.

You should check with your long distance provider, I've seen LD trunks charge the same rate for 800 numbers that they do for real long distance calls. They see it as an "extra service" to provide what they consider "local calls" on their trunks. I usually send them out local PRIs and last case Long Distance trunks.

Where do people route their toll free calls over - their local trunks or their long distance trunks?

Or is it just a provisioning issue? Route them over any available trunk? Do some long distance trunks not permit toll free calls?
