[cisco-voip] CUPS

Yes, you are correct. It will work without integrating into a
directory, but it makes it ultra-painful for the end-user.

So if I understand you correctly , I could create a LDAP profile for
CUPC on CUPS and point it to CUCM and presence would work. I dont need
an external LDAP (AD). I thought CUCM 5 x onwards there is no LDAP in
CUCM and everything goes into informix.

If you use UCM's directory, then it seriously complicates contact
maintenance for users. If CUPS is using UCM's directory, in order for a
user to add a contact, they have to web into CUPS and add them there.
It cannot be done from the CUPC client.

Presence client needs an LDAP directory to pull users and search users,
I had created an Ldap profile on CUPS for it which was pointing to my
Unity server running AD, and then in CUCM I was using Callmanager
embedded directory users which were associated with the primary
extensions. So presence didnt work, When I enabled ldap sync on my
Callmanager with my unity server, both were using the same ldap and
presence started to work.

I didnt test if I could create a LDAP profile on CUPS and point it to
CUCM and then use CUCM directory as I believe that CUCM 6 does not have
a directory and everything goes into Informix and it would not have
worked.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Does this mean you were able to get CUPS to synch with the Directory in
Call Manager or do you still need an external LDAP Directory?

Thanks!

Got it fixed today.

I was using CallManager Directory , so I had to enable ldap synch and
ldap
authentication on CCM as CUPC wont work without that. Then I had to
assign
Subscribe calling search space on the trunk.

Thanks everyone for the help.
