We use Clarus for our CallManager monitoring (4.x-6.x). I had looked into
opsmanager as well but agree with Dennis.

Thanks for that. I was hoping to get something that I can use to show
"this is 1% packet loss, this is 10% packet loss" with a more measurable
known cause behind it than in the link you provided, but in the event of not
finding anything else these samples will be good enough to get my the point
across :)

Thanks!

Cheers,
  Mark

I've got a capture of 20% loss up at http://ertw.com/~sean/sharkfest/ , it
was part of a presentation I gave on using Wireshark to troubleshoot VoIP.
The file is called droppedrtp.cap.

FWIW, I generated it by passing the traffic through a Linux box using the
iptables hashlimit module to limit the conversation to 40pps. Something
similar could be done with policing on a router.

Hi everyone,

What are the most common methods used to monitor a large enterprise
VOIP environment (multiple clusters) ? All clusters are running CM
5.x or 6.x (locked down appliances).

Ops Manager ?
RTMT ?
SNMP MIBs ?
...etc

Has anyone had any success with ops manager ? I have had nothing but
problems with ops manager. Your suggestions/input would be greatly
appreciated.

Regards,

Mike Brooks

I've found Operations Manager to be less than fulfilling. Most of my
enterprise customers are using some type of open platform (Zenoss, Cacti,
Nagios, etc). With some good PHP or perl scripting you can monitor just
about anything from either the SNMP MIBs and the axl serviceability API.

Anyone have some Cacti templates to share? So far all I have is the number
of registered phones. The usual Linux CPU MIBs don't respond, and I'm still
digging through the Cisco MIB files.

Thanks
