hi chris..

answers..

- for now just 7911 and 7975 phones..

- calls out the GW - IP phone to IP phone calls are O.K..

- caller on IP phone calling outside hears echo..called number - outside in
PSTN doesn't..

- they are using headsets when hearing echo, we tried with speakerphone
also, and collegue said that she thinks she can hear it also..

we're not hearing it all time, but definetelly during a call..

and we're not hearing it in every call, just in certain ones..

ALL TROUBLED CALLS ( which we troubleshooted )are placed to:

1. BRI - but with analoug phone attached to NT

2. to E1 PRI with unknow PBX

3. to E1 PRI with siemens PBX

strange????????????????????????

echo or not, the simptom is caller can hear it's own voice in the headset..

isn't it?..

regards..

Got a couple questions:

-You mentioned the problem was on 7975 and 7911 phones, does this imply that
you have a 7961 or some other model that doesn't experience this?

-Also, Is the echo heard only on calls out the GW? Are IP phone to IP Phone
calls ok?

-Who hears the echo? Both sides of the call or only one side? (If only one
side, which side)

-Are the callers hearing echo using headsets or speaker phone with the
volume turn up? If they switch to handsets does the problem go away?

Echo is an analog problem, so we should try and focus on the analog
elements. This means the DSPs in the Phones (resolved by firmware upgrades),
DSPs in the GW (IOS upgrades), or potentially a Telco issue.

yup..

i've read all about it..

but we cannot make the situation any better..

we played with the config on VG, and upgraded IOS on it..

but no help..

i mentioned CUCM and phones just to provide whole scenario..

although, maybe firmware in phones can have something to do with it, even i
don't think it should..

and, we tested by placing calls to that " trouble outside numbers " from
another CUCM system, from another PRI, and no echo is heard..

so, it can only be problem on system in place, or maybe TELCO PRI..

thanx..

Sinisa,

Have you seen the troubleshooting guides on cisco.com regarding echo?
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk652/tk698/technologies_tech_note09186a0080

The echo is probably less to do with your CUCM and IP Phones and more to do
with the gateway and the outside telephone systems your people are calling.

hi guys..

did anybody had issues with echo in system with CUCM 6.1.2 and 2821 with
12.4 code ( varios version - 12.4.9T6, 12.4.15T etc. ), vwic-1mft-t1/e1 card
and PVDM2-48..

the echo can be heard when call is placed to certain phone numbers, and it
is noticed on 7975 and 7911 phones - the only phone types in system..

we changed everything we could in VG config, from echo cancel coverage, IOS
image to attenuation..and nothing helped..

any ideas..

thanx..
