In 7.0(1) where do I get the system event log? I wasn't sure what you
meant, where to look other than show hardware. Usually rebooting to pull
up the BIOS Array Configuration Utility isn't a option as it takes down
call processing. Maybe you meant in 4.1(3) the Event Viewer>System log.

Too bad no tail -f /var/log/messages in CLI J

You'll see it in the system event log when the array detects the failed
disk and when it begins to rebuild the array.

If you are in front of the server the rebuild is finished when the drive
leds stop blinking.  

Other than whatever ILO may give you the only way to get into the ACU is
via the BIOS.

I did a "show hardware" at the CLI and it gives disk stats. I'm hoping
when I remove and insert the disk it will say rebuilding and so much
percent.

Step 5, how do you pull up the HP/Compaq RAID Array Utility under
Platform CLI? I have no idea but would also like to know. 

This is a good example where the Appliance model is tougher than
Windows.  In Windows you could pull up GUI, or watch Event Viewer to
confirm raid rebuild status. Here they have to map a CLI/WebInterface
into the HP ACU-CLI.

I've got a bad disk I need to replace in a Unity Connection 7
installation. I haven't replaced a disk on a linux based appliance yet
and I'm just wondering what the procedure is and how I monitor the RAID
rebuild.

In the olden days, we use to:

1.	shut down the server
2.	remove the disk
3.	turn up the server (press F2, F1 to keep the RAID config in
broken mode)
4.	insert disk
5.	monitor using HP/Compaq utility

I suspect it's going to be something close to this, since it's still an
HP, I'm guessing the F2, F1 sequence still exists, but I'm wondering
what the monitoring software is going to be.
