Your CCM version will also dictate what you can and can't use....if you need SIP, you can't use v4

And if you can't wait. Exchange 2k7 has been good for one of my schools. they do use the third party MWI software and it lacks a little in the call handler part, but they love the Unified messaging and the Voice Portal.

Pretty easy setup. SIP trunk from CM. and should be able to find lots of documentation on the setup.

I have been looking at Exchange 2010 and it will support MWI native as well as have some basic call handling. If you can hold off until that version it could be a viable alternative to Unity.

Many people (including some on this list) have decided to go with Microsoft for their messaging solution. It's not free and it's not simple, but if you have the type of Microsoft licensing deal that others have, it could be very cost effective. You have to work with third party companies to get MWI working as well.

I have currently been asked to look at other Voicemail options that would tie into the Cisco CallManager 6.1(2) other than the Unity option. Does anyone have suggestions or know of a possible VM system that can provide Unified Messaging and possible presence options, tying in smartphones plus other options? We've never looked outside of Cisco and not sure if other systems are as affective or work well with the Cisco Call Manager. Please, any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks
