6808s setup to transport customer’s <SPAN class=SpellE>VLANs</SPAN> via VMAN
tunnels. <o:p></o:p></SPAN></FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><FONT face=Arial size=2><SPAN
style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">To accomplish this it is required
to change the default <SPAN class=SpellE>ethertype</SPAN> of the switch from
8100 to 9100.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><FONT face=Arial size=2><SPAN
style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">That works fine except when we
want to trunk <SPAN class=SpellE>VLANs</SPAN> from an <SPAN
class=SpellE>ethertype</SPAN> 8100 switch and terminate them on the 6808s (vs.
just transporting them to another switch). I tried creating a new “Protocol”
on the 6808 and assigning it an <SPAN class=SpellE>ethertype</SPAN> of 8100
but that didn’t work either. A packet sniff of the Alcatel OSR to 6808
connection identifies the difference in <SPAN class=SpellE>ethertypes</SPAN>
being used.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></FONT></P>
