Just remember that already more than 60% of the size of a JUNOS image is 
all the different subimages for each platform, and it's only going to get 
worse with new platforms and feature bloat creep in.

Personally I value the quicker install time of a reduce image size 
(especially if you must use jinstall and reboot twice on older REs, ouch) 
more than the "look ma one image" marketing. Being able to optionally 
download a platform specific tarball would actually be nice. Then again so 
would being able to fetch an image from Juniper via ftp or from the router 
CLI instead of having to bust out lynx-ssl and scp. :)
