I has more to do with how long the product family as been discontinued,
the availability of replacement components and the size of the installed
base than simply the age of the equipment.

If you check the product bulletins on the Cisco website you'll find end
of sales and end of service bulletins, though there's not neccessarily
a one-for-one mapping between that and smartnet availability.
