What you want from the phone company is "clear channel" and B8ZS.
You do not what them to run ESF or to fiddle with your framing
in any way on a point-to-point link. Often it is in your interest
to tell the phone company that you will be using ESF because they
can passively monitor your stream for CRC-6 errors and tell you
what they see at their intermediate points. But they shouldn't
configure their equipment for ESF -- if that means terminating your
framing and generating their own.
