John,
Layer 1 Status:
DEACTIVATED
Layer 1 deactivated indicates that you have no BRI... or the interface is
shut down, or the line is not plugged in. The spids will not be sent until
the router sees layer 1 come up.
TEI Not Assigned, ces = 1, state = 1(terminal down)
spid1 configured, no LDN, spid1 NOT sent, spid1 NOT valid
The spids are marked invalid because they have not been verified by the
switch, not because you mis-typed them.
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios120/12cgcr/dial_
r/drprt1/drbri.htm#xtocid1645899
is the URL with the descriptions on 'sh isdn status'.
You most likely need to specify the LDN as well... probably just the
seven-digit part of your SPID. You put this after your spid like so...
isdn spid1 80055512121111 5551212
isdn spid2 80055512131111 5551213
but I guess that depends on your line setup.
Good Luck,
Scott

Subject: [nsp] 4700 ISDN BRI module config Q
having trouble with spid configuration (?) on a 4700 with an
ISDN BRI 4-port module? running 120(5.6)S6 with a basic-ni
switch and spids of the form <area code><number>1111, the
router complains that the spids are invalid. according to
the USW tech, these are the correct spids (and switch type)
and an Adtran XRT accepts these and works properly.
i can not find anything in the cisco docs that explains what
layer 1 DEACTIVATED (or the other status msgs) means. anyone
know off hand?
tia.
