Hi,
We have a vendor which broadcasts an async data feed
through a Paradyne 3810 CSU/DSU. Normally, they connect
the CSU/DSU to the serial port of a PC. They then have
an application which listens to the PCs serial port
and decodes the feed.
I was wondering whether I could do the following:
(1) connect the CSU/DSU to a Cisco 25XX async port, say Async0
(2) telnet to the Cisco router and get connected to
Async0. The feed to Async0 is then pumped to the telnet
connection without any modifications.
I can then just run a modified application to decode
the feed from the telnet session rather than from the serial
port of the PC.
In essence, I want to replace the PC from the site with
a Cisco. The PC could then connect to the feed remotely,
through telnet.
Is this possible? The old USR Netserver had this capability
but I don't know whether a 2501 could do the same.
TIA.
