I'd expect that more on an interface where the speed/duplex were
mismatched -- 100/f at one end, 100/h at another, for example. A
late collision can also be caused by physical problems -- broken
hardware, bad cabling, you name it. Late collisions aren't really
related to normal half-duplex collisions.
