The configs you sent look correct and should assign the
serial to area 0. The error messages do look like the B to
C link is not in area 0 at router B. A "show ip ospf interface"
from router B would be helpful. Also make sure that the config
on the router really matches what you sent. A shut/no shut on
the interface might be helpful.
