I general "abort" refers to an HDLC serial condition, where there's a
sync/flag to start a packet, but no real packet. Basically, noise on
the line or line/carrier problems.

crc/abort - line problems
overrun/underrun - inadquate hardware or line rate
drops - traffic beyond line or router CPU capacity
