not so while ago I asked the same question which one is better, NPE400 vs NSE1
answer I got from Cisco was;
"For regular CEF switching NPE400 is supposed to be faster. For regular CEF
switching plus lots of features (ACLs, etc) the NSE1 is supposed to be faster."
