The new 6509 OSR (still awaiting full release dates for the OSR bits of the
switch) will do all you so desire, the 6509 is a good switch that can also
take the cards of a 72/75 directly into its slots via a flex wan adaptor...

if you want Cisco they do look to be very good

In the future the OSR will enhance the capacity upto 256G speed

If however costs are important then a foundry BI8000 will do all of this at
a slightly cheaper price

thanks

Rick

Subject: [nsp] GE switch

[I know - 3 in a row, but it happens somedays :-)]

What switch (preferably Cisco, but could be any other vendor), would you
recommend to support 4 x GE ports, 24 x 10/100 ports and either 1 STM-1 ATM
port or 1 STM-1 POS port (to be upgraded later to STM-4)?

Thanks again,
Hank
