I have experience with CheckPoint FW-1 and the PIX. I am currently running
several PIX in various configs. If you ask me right now, what I like
better, it's the PIX.
I am a big CheckPoint fan when it comes to having VPN features. The
CheckPoint stuff is standard and works with all types of other vendors. The
PIX are typical cisco proprietary.
I am currently using PIX 525's in failover config. I also have PIX 515's
with encrypted tunnels between them.
Things I would look for:
Need for VPN
Need for failover
Need for encryption
What will you use to manage the FW?
Any specific questions?

Subject: [nsp] Cisco PIX feedback request
Hey all...
I'm looking at Cisco Pix 535/525 as a firewall solution and was looking
for some feedback on things to look for in evaluating the system and any
experience with the product. Please feel free to contact me offline at
kulriksen@publichost.com.
Also, feedback regarding Cisco's IDS solution (blade in a 6500).
Thanx in advance,
K
