Well, you also have the possibility of
d) use /30 or /31 and put them in iBGP along with the customer networks
In this scenario you can reach the far end of the customer link (as
opposed to c) alternative when you can't ping/wahtever them from anything
except the aggregation router), but without running into IGP scaling
issues.
