Yes. In fact, you can use any frame-based layer 2 technology to connect a
point-to-point circuit and retain the point-to-point nature of the datalink.
Just create a point-to-point subinterface and assign a matching DLCI to both
ends. Also, one side needs to be a DCE and one side a DTE, so that LMI
works properly. Or, you could disable keepalives. This can be done with
ATM DXI, SMDS, and X.25 as well.
