The above page specifies an optical loss budget of up to 28 dB at 1310 nm.
The normal attenuation for single mode fiber is 0.33 dB/km, which means a
distance of up to 70 km. However, in the table it is specified at 40
km. Is this just Cisco being conservative?
Since the wavelength of 1310 nm is "old", does Cisco have an optical
adapter working at 1550 nm?
Thanks,
Hank
