12.1(5)T<whatever> has been one of the worst IOS versions we've ever seen
- lots of weird things, including complete lockups requiring a power
cycle (and this is *really* bad - a spontaneous reboot is ugly, but
compared to a full lockup, it's harmless). In general, it's a good
idea to stay as far away from IOS versions with letters as possible...

We use 12.0(14)S3 on our 7200/7500 routers with good success. BGP,
EIGRP, OSPF routing and CEF (on most of them).

It's a memory pig if you run "full BGP" and CEF, but I doubt 12.1T is
better.
