slight typo - the RJ-45 interfaces are for 10/100. the GBIC slots are
for 1000.
when you configure a GE interface, you specify if it should be in
10/100/1000 mode. if it's in 10/100 mode, it will use the RJ-45
interface, if it's 1000 it will use the GBIC interface.
